Lance Corporal Casey Lynne Casanova of McComb, Mississippi, assigned to the Combat Logistics Battalion 1, Combat Logistics Regiment 1, 1st Marine Logistics Group, was killed on May 2, 2008 when an improvised explosive device detonated near her vehicle in Anbar Province, Iraq. Casey joined the Marine Corps 2 years ago and was deployed to Iraq in January 2008.
“She didn’t have to join the Marines, it was a choice she made” said Craig Casanova, Casey’s father. “She just felt like she had a purpose in life when she joined the Marines and she was just happy doing what she was doing”.
